Home Improvement - Part 4

Another day of painting. :) We painted the ceiling white and the walls with a color called "Cozy Cottage". :) It's basically an off-white kind of color. I am amazed at how pretty everything looks though. The room looks gorgeous compared to before. I can't wait till we buy some new furniture and move everything back in.
We still have to paint the baseboards and the door jams once we tear up the carpet but most of the painting is done. :) I took a few pictures of our work. Just click on the thumbnails to see the full-sized photos.

Home Improvement - Part 3

And it's already the weekend again. Can't believe this week flew by so quick. It was incredibly busy with Memorial Day coming up Monday. So much to think about and so little time. :) I think we did ok but we will find out Tuesday I guess. I am off this weekend which is nice. We started painting today. Put on the first coat which is a primer that blocks stains. It's nice to see the room all white like that. Of course it's not perfect since it's not the real paint yet but it still looks nicer than it did before. We are going back to Home Depot in a minute to get the real paint. We are picking an off-white color which will be neutral and pretty much go with anything. You can see Ollie in the picture next to all the paint samples we had. :) He helped us pick out a color. ;)

Annoying commoners

royalty Mike sent me this funny quote from his Page-A-Day "365 Stupidest Things Ever Said" calendar. :) LOL
Britain's Prince Philip:
"A few years ago everybody was saying we must have more leisure, everybody is working too much. Now that everybody has got so much leisure - it may be involuntary, but they have got it - they are now complaining they are unemployed. People do not seem to be able to make up their minds, do they?"

After a long day at work I needed a laugh. :) My co-worker Dan called out sick today so I had to cover his job. On top of that everything else was a mess too so I was trying to juggle ten things at once. Let's hope tomorrow will be a better day.

Home Improvement - Part 2

Our cats are definitely enjoying all the commotion that's going on and are finding lots of new places to sit and sleep. As I was putting all our books into boxes Oliver decided to sit in the box. And when we unwrapped the drop cloth he decided it was a good idea to sleep on it. Dinah also liked the drop cloth once we covered up all our furniture that's left in the room. I cleaned the windows today and Mike started to patch up some holes in the ceiling, cover everything up and is now sanding the places he patched up so it will be smooth once we start painting. How fun. ;)

Royal Wedding # 2

Fairytale Wedding #2 Spanish Crown Prince Felipe and his wife Letizia Ortiz, Princess of Asturias, pose for photographers at Madrid's Royal Palace, May 22, 2004. Their televised wedding ceremony was beamed to more than a billion people worldwide. Long one of Europe's most eligible royals, Felipe looked outside the ranks of royalty for his bride. He chose a 31-year-old divorcee who was a rising star for Spain's most popular news broadcaster before saying yes to a proposal that will make her queen of Spain some day. It was Madrid's first royal wedding since 1906.

Another fairytale wedding just took place in Spain yesterday. As you can all probably tell by now I love weddings and romantic stories. :)

Home Improvement

As you can see from the picture we started our "livingroom project" today.

Ahead of us lie weekends filled with painting and tearing up an old and stained carpet (there is a hopefully nice wood floor underneath).

Once we are all done with that the fun part will start. We will get to rearrange the furniture and also buy some new stuff. We plan to buy an entertainment unit and a new TV. I am definitely looking forward to picking out new furniture, new curtains and re-arranging and re-decorating once everything else is done.
While I was at work today Mike started to take down everything in the livingroom. It's amazing how much "stuff" accumulates over time. The room looks really big now. :)
It's been a few busy days at work filled with training my replacement at my old job. She is making good progress but there is just so much to teach it will be a while before we have covered EVERYthing.
Let's see what next week brings. For now I am going to curl up with a book and a cup of tea. :)

What happens if ... (Part 2)

Ollie and Dinah sleeping on a pile of fresh laundry
And this is what happens if you put a big pile of fresh laundry right out of the dryer on the bed. Not much later you will have two kitties sleeping on top of the laundry. :) I have learnt my lesson and usually try not to put anything black on the top layer so they won't get their fur all over it. Aren't they cute ?

What happens if ...

dinah-basket This is what happens if you put down a basket full of laundry in our house. You will have a cat sitting in it in a matter of a few minutes. I swear I only walked out of the room for a minute or so and when I got back Dinah was sitting in the basket - all happy and purring.

I am enjoying my day off at home taking care of some necessary every-day things like doing laundry, cleaning the kitty litter and other fun stuff like that. :) Of course I am also cuddling our two kitties, surfing the web and just being lazy and taking breaks in between my tasks. :)
After I am done with this post I will probably move on to cleaning the bathroom sink and then the kitchen counters. They are both in desperate need of some cleaning.
And tomorrow it's back to work and more training. So far we are making good progress so I am hoping everything is going to work out ok.

Lazy Sunday

garfield9
I am having a nice and relaxed Sunday. Got up really late. The sun is shining and it's real nice out. Went to get lunch from Mc Donald's and am now surfing the web. I am probably going to make myself some iced tea and maybe go sit outside and read a book. I should be catching up on my correspondence but reading a book sounds more appealing right now. We will see how it works out. :) They finally released a trailer for the upcoming movie "Before Sunset" which I am absolutely excited about. Go check it out here. :) Hope everybody is having a good Sunday. :)

Welcome to Supervisor Land

cbasign5 It's my weekend off this week which is always nice. :)
Nonetheless the phone rang at 7:30 a.m. because one of the employees who was supposed to work today couldn't make it in. After some calling around I decided to go in myself and help out. Luckily the same girl called around 10:30 and told me that she could make it in after all so I was able to go home.

Been lazy ever since then. Took a nap with my cat Ollie after we got home and then watched an episode of the show MA2412 (it's an Austrian comedy show which is really funny - if you understand German anyway *g*). After that I watched the movie "Hilfe ich liebe Zwillinge" (translates to "Help I love twins"). It's a really cheesy movie from the 70'ies but for whatever reason I have always loved those type of movies. :)
Why all the German nostalgia all of a sudden you ask ? I got a package from my parents today with 4 Austrian DVDs which made me very happy. :)

In a little while we are going out to dinner to celebrate. I am already starving so I am looking forward to that. :) YUM. :)
PS: The Eurovision Song Contest is held in Europe today. Wish I was there so I could watch it. For an explantion go to my friend Joanne's weblog. :)
