Australia Trip update
Hello again. Just a super quick post since I need to get ready to leave for Nicki and Damien's wedding. :)
Having a really great time. Went to Bondi Beach with Nicki and Damien on Thursday. Friday we went back into Sydney and checked out the Sydney Wildlife Center to see a bunch of neat animals (kangaroos, koalas, wallabies etc) and also do a walking tour of the Rocks. (the oldest area in Sydney)
Yesterday, Saturday, we took a daytrip to the Blue Mountains which was also really cool. What a neat region. It kind of reminded me of a mix between various national/state parks in California, Arizona or Utah. Had a nice day driving around, looking at all the beautiful scenery.
And today it's Nicki's and Damien's big day. Getting ready to leave in a few minutes. Can't wait to see Nicki all dressed up and be part of their big day.

Hello from Sydney
Hello from Sydney. Can't believe we are actually in Australia, it feels so surreal. :) Had a great first day. The flight was super long of course. Went from NY to San Francisco and then from there to Sydney, all in all about 21 hours of flying. But we made it and are here now. Guess that's all that matters.
Our friend Nicki met us and we went into Sydney which was pretty cool on Australia Day. So many people with Australian flags, shirts, etc. Lots going on. We walked all around and explored a bunch of different areas. Really hot and humid too. I had no idea that it would be this humid, feels really tropical. But of course it beats all the crazy snow we have been having.
Will see what we will do the next few days, will try and spend as much time as possible with Nicki and then of course on Sunday it's Nicki and Damien's wedding. Really enjoying our time hear so far. Looking forward to bed now though after having been up for what feels like two full days.

Just one more week ...
One more week until Sydney. I can't believe we will be leaving for Australia in just one week. We leave Monday January 24th. Don't actually get there until Wednesday the 26th (it will be interesting wrapping my brain around the massive time difference) though. I am definitely looking forward to 2 weeks away from work plus getting out of the cold. We have had such cold weather this winter and have already exceeded the snow amounts for an average winter and it's only the beginning of January. Had another storm last week on Wednesday that dumped two feet of snow on us. They are forecasting another storm for Tuesday but right now they are saying it will probably just be a wintry mix turning into rain later in the day. Will probably make for some messy roads but hopefully nothing else.
Not too much else going on. Just trying to get everything ready for when we leave in a week. Still a lot to do at work and also things to get together for our trip. I don't think it's going to seem real until we actually get on the plane and maybe not even until we leave San Francisco (we have a layover there) Definitely not looking forward to the LOOOONG plane trip.
Been busy today wrapping a bunch of our wires in wire protective sleeves because our two new cats decided it would be a fun game to chew up wires. So far they have chewed through Mike's cell phone charger cable, two long cables we had running between the computer and TV, a wire for the TiVo, various speaker cables for our surround system and a string of Christmas lights. I don't think it's possible to protect all the wires in our house, WAY too many but we figured we would start with the most expensive/most difficult to replace ones. So we will see how that goes.

Winter Wonderland, Rockapella, etc.
Wow tomorrow it's already January 10. This year is already flying by. Work has been busy. Had two snowstorms already, the big blizzard right after Christmas and then another smaller storm this past Friday. Never any fun. Been dealing with staffing issues, training, etc. as well which never helps.
On the bright side our Australia trip is only two weeks away now. I can't believe it's that soon now. We need to finish up our planning, look at some more things we want to do, apply for our travel visas online etc. I can't wait to go. I am not looking forward to the LOOOONG flight (6 hrs to San Francisco and 14 hrs to Sydney from there) but the rest will be fun. :)
Had to work on Saturday but we left around 2:30 and headed down to NYC. Had a late lunch/early dinner at Chevy's and then saw Rockapella. Our seats were amazing, second row. Was really neat to see them that up close. I always enjoy seeing them, they always seem to have so much fun when they are performing.
