Back to the daily routine

Hanna As predicted our week in Canada flew by super quick. We had a really nice time though. Quebec is a truly lovely province. The second resort we stayed at was even nicer, especially the rooms. The only drawback was that there was no cell phone signal and the wi-fi internet in the room barely worked. On the up side we got to hear some loons on the lake in the morning when waking up. So that was cool. :)

One day we took a day trip to Mount Tremblant. Checked out the village there and had lunch at a brewpub. Then drove through the national park, hiked to a small waterfall and came across some really neat scenery. Mike & I also went into Montreal one day and the last day my parents drove towards Montreal with us and we had lunch at Les Trois Brasseurs (a really cool brewpub) in Laval.

Now it's back to work and every day stuff. Today we unpacked everything, did laundry, caught up on some things. Next week the payroll girl who was on vacation should be back so that should help a lot. Still need to find a new permanent employee as well.

Short mail update for today. Letters going out tomorrow to: Charles/TN and Carmen/Malta. Received letters from: Sayaka/Japan. (there might be more in the mail but we still have the mail held at the post office from our trip - need to get it tomorrow finally)

Hello from Canada

Hanna+Mike-Quebec It's already been a few days and of course time is flying way too quickly. But it's nice to be away from work. Still have to check up on certain things and have had to fix a couple of things but all in all still better than actually being there.

Thursday we drove up and the weather was pretty rainy for most of the day but Friday and today it's been nice. Perfect fall weather, brisk blue skies, light breeze, especially today. Much cooler than it has been but it's also getting later in the season plus we are much farther north so it makes sense. Spent Friday and today walking around Quebec City, one of my favorite places. Really enjoy that city.

Tomorrow we are heading back towards Montreal and going to spend 3 nights near there before having to go back to the US on Wednesday next week. Definitely enjoying being on vacation, relaxing, some sightseeing, spending time with my parents etc.

Short mail update for today. Sent out letters today to: Lotte/Denmark and Jessica/DE. Received letters from: Charles/TN, Sayaka/Japan and Carmen/Malta.

Fall is in the air

Haveahappyautumn1 It's not officially fall yet but it's definitely been in the air the last few days. The last few days have been very nice. Blue skies, just a tad breezy. Today I put out all my fall decorations, fall scented candles, made myself some tea. After sleeping in of course. It was a nice relaxed day today.

This past week was another crazy week at work. First week covering payroll and cashier duties all by myself in addition to my regular job of course. My staffing situation was still a nightmare but I finally managed to make everything come together at the end of the week with a temporary fix anyway.

Next week we are off to Canada on Thursday to see my parents who have been there since Thursday last week. We will spend time with them near Quebec City and Montreal, going on day trips, covering some tourist sights etc. Looking forward to a few days off even though covering everything at work will be quite the challenge. I'll need to cross-train someone else on some of the payroll duties while I am gone. Nothing like the trainee training another person. :) But oh well, it will just have to work out somehow. Timing is never great but it always ends up working out one way or another in the end.

PS: Happy Birthday to my dad. :)

Short mail update for today. No letters have gone out. Received letters from: Charles/TN, Lotte/Denmark, Sayaka/Japan, Jessica/DE and Carmen/Malta.

Crazy busy week

475px-Busy_desk.svg

Somehow made it through the week. What a week. The storm didn't really affect us much at home. Most of the water in the basement is gone now, just a couple small wet spots. Work definitely was affected though. The flooding wasn't much of an issue Monday morning but we didn't have power for a day and a half which was a real issue.

So all day Monday and most of Tuesday we were running on generators which meant we could only use part of our system, a few PCs, phones, our order entry system, really just a very basic emergency set up. What a mess. Of course lots of other people in the state/area were affected too so we had lots of issues trying to deliver product, customers calling up who had lost power and all their product and needed items redelivered. The schools which were supposed to start had major issues too. Lots of school start up dates got pushed back by days which of course messed with our delivery schedules.

I am hoping next week will be better. Tomorrow is Labor Day but I will still be going into work of course. Need to finish getting in our Tuesday orders plus going to have one last day with our payroll person before she goes on vacation for 3 weeks. We will see what the rest of the week brings.
My parents are leaving for Canada next week on Thursday the 8th. Will be staying for 2 1/2 weeks and we will meet up with them for a week hopefully. They will be spending time in and around Montreal and Quebec City. Looking forward to a short break in the near future even though I don't know how I am going to set it all up yet. I guess we will figure it out as we go.

Mail Update: No letters have gone out. Received letters from: Lotte/Denmark, Jessica/DE and Carmen/Malta.
