Rainy, dreary March

PixlrWhat a dreary gloomy day today. It was one of those mornings where I would have loved to just stay in bed. It was really dark most of the day. Ugh.

Yesterday my dad told me that he was planning their vacation for September. They are going to be heading back to Croatia. Fingers crossed that I can manage to take some time off and join them. I will try and figure that out over the next week or so. Will try and request time off. By September I should have enough vacation time accrued to make it work. Fingers crossed.

In less fun news my tooth saga continues. Had 3 appointments Monday and Tuesday last week. On Tuesday I had the tooth pulled. It really is startling having a big gap right in the front. Luckily they fitted me with the flipper the same day and it looks pretty decent. I need to stay away from spicy or crunchy foods for a week. Only bland and soft foods. We are close to the 1 week mark now and I think things are healing up ok. Eating with the flipper is still somewhat of a challenge but it's getting better. Talking is a bit weird still too but not awful.

I have a check up appointment next week on Monday (week from today) and also need to make an appointment with the orthodonist for a consult on braces. Ugh.

The weekend was quiet and uneventful. Just wish it wasn't Monday already again. Lets see what this week brings.

Letter/Mail Update: Letters went out last Friday to: Eloine/NY and Lotte/Denmark. Received letters from/owe a reply to: Nina/WA and Eunice/Malta.

Snow, work and a broken tooth

PixlrSurvived the blizzard on Tuesday. I guess at the end of the day it's just snow. Never any fun though. We got about 14 inches of snow in the end. It was super heavy through so no fun to shovel at all. Our landlord plows our parking lot in the back of the house but we are still responsible for the stairs, walkways and the sidewalk. Plus digging the car out after he plows since it is then plowed in. I was able to work from home which is definitely helpful.

The work was a busy one as I covered for one of my co-workers who was on vacation. But I made it through the week and managed to get things done. So that's good.

The not so fun thing happened towards the end of the week. Thursday night I ordered a corned beef sandwich. I ate a few bites and then I heard "crack". I have a front tooth which I have had trouble with. Had a root canal on it last May. Been shaky ever since. So I got a dentist appt at 11 yesterday (Saturday) and the tooth is fractured at the gumline. It was so loose it almost came out when they did the xray. They bonded it for the weekend so I don't have a gap.

I have another appointment tomorrow (Monday) at 3pm. They are making me a "flipper" which is basically a thing that you put in so it looks like you have a tooth there. Ultimately I need an implant. Ugh. But I probably have to get braces first cause of the way my teeth are and my bite etc. Tuesday I probably have an appt with the oral surgeon. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. So yeah that's been my "fun" for the last few days.

Daylight Savings, Pizza, snow on the horizon

PixlrHappy Daylight Savings Time to everyone here in the US (well except AZ) Ugh. I am really not a fan of the springing ahead and losing an hour. And it being dark again in the morning when I have to get up. It's worse that we do this even earlier now than the rest of the world. That's a fun Bush legacy.  Ugh.

On a more fun note. We went to check out "Colony Grill" in Fairfield today. Been meaning to for ages and finally got around to it. Delicious pizza!! Super thin crust and just really good.  It's pretty much a bar with pizza. No other food. Full bar, beer, some wine. But such amazing pizza. Yum!

Been busy at work as I started covering for a co-worker on Friday who is on vacation. Definitely have my work cut out for me but powering through. :) Always good to learn new things and figure out how to handle different scenarios. Never a dull moment. :)

There is a bunch of snow (possibly a foot and a half .. 1/2 meter) of snow in our forecast for Tuesday. Ugh. I am ready for spring. We even had some really nice weather in February, not normal winter weather at all, but now it's turning back to actual winter weather instead of spring. Ugh. I am not ready for it at all.

Panic at the Disco and more

PixlrAnd it's already Sunday afternoon again. How does that happen? Had a relaxed and quiet weekend overall so I can't complain too much. Sipping a delicious Peach Bellini right now and savoring what's left of my Sunday.

Wednesday I had lunch with my friend Sharon which was great as it's been a little while since I have seen her. It was great to meet up and catch up a bit.

Thursday we went down to NYC after work to see "Panic at the Disco" at Madison Square Garden. They really put on an amazing show. His voice is crazy. He can reach such high notes and still stay in tune. It's pretty impressive. Lots of screaming teenage girls (I guess I am getting old - lol) but it was still a lot of fun. Here are some clips if you are interested (both originals and covers)

Let's see what next week brings at work. I will have to prepare for vacation coverage as the week after one of my co-workers will be out for a week.  That will be the first time covering for someone else for a whole week. I have done it for a day or two but not for an entire week. Well fingers crossed everything goes well. :)

Also just booked a hotel in Mystic, CT for one night in July. Our friends Megan and Jonathan are getting married at Mystic Seaport so that should be fun.
