Once in a Blue Moon
Have you ever heard the expression "once in a blue moon" ? Well up until today I thought that it was just an expression that didn't have any real meaning behind it. Reading the posts over at Cassie-B and Down a Country Road made me learn differently. We actually had a "blue moon" yesterday and I didn't even know it. :)
When two full moons occur in the same calendar month, it is called a blue moon. Full moons are separated by 29 days, so it is possible to have a blue moon occur in almost any month. On the average blue moons only occur every two and a half years though. The last blue moon before yesterday's (July 31) occurred in November of 2001 and there won't be another one until June of 2007.

Haven't been up to much else besides work. It's been another busy week and I've been neglecting posting for a while now. I'll try and be better. :)
Still haven't caught up on my letters although I at least answered most of my emails. One step at a time I guess. :)
Later tonight we will go out to dinner to a local restaurant called Jim Barbarie's. We were orginally going to go to a German place called Helga's Heidelberg Restaurant that is under new ownership but found out that they are closing early today. So we will have to check that out another time. Jim Barbarie's is always a good choice though since they have some of the best steaks and seafood in town.
And tomorrow it's already back to work. Oh well. :)

Glad you enjoyed the post. I thought it was very interesting.
I looked out at the moon about 3am, and it was a full moon, but not blue in color - pretty though

Shame the moon isn't really blue though! Actually, we had a deep red coloured moon last night. it was such a deep red colour it looked very weird, but very pretty.

LOL I remember telling the kids about this once a long time ago, because I told them how the moon changes over so many days, not really a month. And I remember Erik being disappointed that it wasn't really blue, either.
