A Day in Hanna's World

 

It's been another busy week. TGIF - Thank god it's Friday. :) And I am actually not even working this weekend. YAY. :) Went to see Chris Rock at Madison Square Garden in New York City yesterday. Oh my god ... he is soooo funny. :) The tickets for the show were my Christmas present to Mike but I enjoyed it just as much. It was definitely great. First time I have ever seen a comedian perform live but I would definitely go and do it again. It was so much fun.

We got out of the show at about 10:45 pm and had to walk back to our car. We were originally going to take the train to the city but missed it (it left two minutes early and pulled away from the station as we got there - how annoying). So we had to take the car down and Mike had to drive home after the show instead. We were home at about 1 am. I was pretty tired at work today but it's been an ok evening. Just made myself some tea and will go to bed pretty soon I think.

Not much new really. :) Had an ok rest of the week and a relaxing Sunday. Here is a very cute picture of my favorite cat Ollie. :)

This week was busy as always. Saturday started off bad when a co-worker didn't show up in the morning but developed overall better than expected.

Went to dinner at Two Steps in downtown Danbury. The food was worth going outside and enduring the brutal cold for a few minutes during the walk from the car. Had a very yummy filet mignon and some vanilla bean ice cream for dessert.

Didn't do much today. Mostly relaxed and surfed the web a bit. I should be writing letters since I am totally backed up with my correspondence. If any of my pen pals happen to be reading my journal .... I am very sorry about taking so long to write back. :) I will try and do better.

The weather is supposed to be really yucky (snowy, icy, wintery mix) the next couple days. I am SO ready for spring. :)

 

I am probably one of the clumsiest people I have ever known. It's my day off today and I got up at about 10 a.m. Got up to take a shower and get dressed. I opened the cabinet in the bathroom to take out the toothpaste and managed to drop Mike's big heavy can of shaving cream on my toes. I dropped it on my left foot, right on the middle toe. Very painful ! I have been hopping around since then and spent most of the day on the bed with my leg up.

It's better now but it definitely still hurts, especially when I walk. Tomorrow at work should be fun. At least I have a desk job and I will just have to make other people do my walking. :) I am very annoyed at myself though. This kind of ruined my whole day off. Oh well ... what am I gonna do ? I should know by now that I am the queen of clumsiness. :)

Not much new really. :) Had a very lazy weekend.

I can't believe it's already Sunday night again. Just found this pretty picture and thought it was perfect for a new weblog entry. :)

It was snowing again today. It's also been very cold lately. We had wind chill temperatures as low as minus 30 °F.

Another work day tomorrow. Jay (the guy from Texas) will be here again tomorrow so that probably means another long day. :)

Had an "interesting morning". Got up as usual and noticed that our cat Dinah was acting very strange. She was not sitting down and didn't want to be touched and was obviously in some sort of pain.

So we called the vet and after some arguing back and forth got them to give us an appt. at about 9:15. Mike went to work and I stayed with his sister Kristina so we could bring Dinah to the vet.

She was not very happy when I put her in the carrier. Thankfully the vet is only about 5 min. from where we live. She behaved very nicely when we were at the vet and was acting like an angel. They looked at her and found out that it was just a bunch of her long fur stuck together and blocking her back so she couldn't go to the bathroom. Poor kitty.
They shaved her on the back and she is fine now. Thank god. We dropped her off at home and Kristina gave me a ride to work. I got here a little after 10 o'clock so I have been catching up ever since.

I am just glad Dinah is fine. I always get scared when something's wrong with one of the cats.

We also found out that Nanny is coming home tomorrow. It's been a little longer than two months now so I am sure she is happy to come home.

It's been freezing cold here in the Northeast of the US. We had lows of -5°F (-20°C) with some wind so it felt even colder. Despite the cold we had a fun day yesterday. Was at work till about 5:45 pm.

After work we went to catch the 6:09 train down to the city to Grand Central. Had a couple drinks at Grand Central and then took the subway for one stop.

Went to see Rockapella which was really cool. They don't have any real instruments but use their voices to imitate all the sounds of the instruments (drums, base, ...)

After the show was over we went to a close by bar and had some more drinks and buffalo wings. Was a cool little place and fun to hang out at. We didn't pay any attention to the time and all of a sudden realized that it was already after 1 o'clock. We were lucky that there was a cab right outside the bar so we were able to get back to the train station quickly. We had to run but did make the 1:30 train which is the last train out of the city.

Since it's the last train it makes EVERY stop between NYC and CT. We were finally home at about 4 am. So I haven't been doing much today. A sleepy day today. :)

 

	Had a day off from work today which was nice. :) I slept in late and talked to my friend Joanne online for a while. Around 3:30 my friend Sharon picked me up and we went to see the movie Mona Lisa Smile. Despite the bad reviews it has gotten I really enjoyed it. I like Julia Roberts and thought she was very good. I am also a big Julia Stiles and Kirsten Dunst fan so I had fun. :) After the movies we went to eat Chinese. Very yummy as always. I love Chinese. :)
Got home just a little while ago and called Mike. Turn out he went to TK's (our favorite bar) with Jay (the guy from Texas who is here to help with the project). They will be heading back to the office in a bit. Just needed a break. I told Mike to pick me up on their way back. As crazy as it sounds I prefer being at work over being in the empty house by myself. :)

 

Very sleepy this evening. :) It's been a very busy two days at work, especially for Mike. He is working on a big project and has two people from outside companies there right now (Jay from Texas and Kevin, the programer, from California). Our company is working on a big imaging project where we will store and file a lot of things (reports, invoices, ...) electronically instead of filing them away manually. It will make things a lot easier in the long run but setting it all up is a lot of work of course.

Monday night they worked late again and around 7 pm when they finished up we went to Rosy Tomorrow's. We had some appetizers and a bunch of drinks. It was lots of fun even though at times I had no idea what the three of them were talking about (networking and other computer stuff *g*) Definitely fun people though. We ended up staying till about midnight and I didn't get to bed till around 1 o'clock. So that explains my being tired. :) Today was another long day. We had dinner at the mall after work and will probably go to bed very soon. Mike has gotten my cold now and isn't feeling great at all. I have the day off tomorrow so that will be nice. :)

 

	Had a pretty lazy weekend so far. I have been battling a cold with a runny nose and been sneezing a lot. Had Saturday off after some confusion with the schedule at work. So I got to sleep in yesterday and be lazy. Did pretty much the same thing today.
Talked to my friend Joanne online today and might be going out to dinner with Mike later. We will see. Let's hope next week will be an easy one at work. I guess we will just have to wait and see. :)
