My day off

And more rain. The forecast for Danbury says rain or showers for the next few days, all the way through Monday. I guess I shouldn't complain since it could be snow but I am still not crazy about cold and rainy weather. :)

It took us 2 1/2 hours to get to Hartford this morning. The traffic was absolutely crazy, it should have only taken us about an hour. After we finally got there we spent about an hour in the INS office (or whatever it's called now, it keeps changing names since they changed it over to the department of Homeland Security). Everything went smoothly, nonetheless it was still annoying to spend my day off sitting in a government office waiting for our number to be called.

After we got back Mike dropped me off at home and he went to work. I decided to take a nap with our cats Oliver and Dinah even though it was already noon. I didn't wake up until about 2:30 or so when I heard the computer beeping as my friend Joanne was messaging me on MSN Messenger. :)

I made myself a cup of tea and decided that a rainy day was as good as any to catch up on my letters. I actually managed to write 6 letters so I am happy about that. I still have 3 more to go and am probably going to get more in the mail soon. At least I am somewhat caught up now.

Mike is still at work. When he gets home we will have to go grocery shopping. And tomorrow it's back to work for me as well. What joy. :)

Spring Showers

Spring showers .... I guess it's all part of spring. :) Has been much cooler and rainy/cloudy lately. Can't wait for it to get warm and sunny again.

Work's been busy as always although it hasn't been quite as crazy this week. Having said that we did have one person walk out of the office yesterday morning after a heated
argument with a co-worker and have dealt with being short-staffed since. There's always a new drama at my job, it sure doesn't get boring. =)

I am off tomorrow so that's good.
Still have to get up early 'cause we have to go to Hartford, CT to get a stamp in my passport to extend my green card. I envision standing in a long line in some cramped government building all day but maybe it won't be so bad. :)

Walk down memory lane

Another visit down memory lane .... This picture of my dad and me was taken in the summer of 1985 in East Tyrol in Austria. I have to say it's one of the few pictures of myself that I actually like. =)

I have been aquiring a pretty extensive collection of childhood pictures over the past few weeks as my parents have been scanning and emailing me a lot of our family photos.
Eventually I plan to put a lot of them on a website. Don't hold me to that plan though since I still have a bunch of other web ideas to finish first. :)

It's Sunday and a bit cooler than yesterday but still nice. I really hope spring sticks around this time and we don't get any more snow.

Our cat Ollie is enjoying the spring sun from his new window perch that we put up yesterday. It's a soft platform that attaches to the window sill so the cats can sit by the window and look out.

I will enjoy the rest of this Sunday afternoon with another cup of tea as Monday will be here before we know it anyway.

Spring Day

It's a very nice spring day today. Yesterday we had close to 70 °F (~ 21°C) which is pretty warm for March. It's almost the same today, a little cloudy but still nice.

Tomorrow it's supposed to cool down again and the daily high will be 52 °F (~ 11°C). At least there is no snow in the forecast so I am happy.

Went to the hairdresser Thursday night (only got my ends trimmed and a few layers - looks much healthier now) and afterwards to the newly opened Target store. Got a few things like a new hairdryer and some conditioner.

Friday was another busy busy day at work. I am very glad it's the weekend and I am off and being lazy at home. :)

Blast from the past

My parents sent me a bunch of baby pictures so I thought I would post one of them. :)
This picture of my aunt and me was taken in July of 1980. I was 9 months old.

It was another super busy day at work and we didn't leave until 7 pm or so.

Had dinner and watched "Bevery Hills Cop". Will call it a night pretty shortly I think.

Tomorrow is Thursday and that means we are one day closer to the weekend. =)

Garfield

Here's today's Garfield comic strip. I thought it was funny. :)

Had another really long and exhausting day at work today. When will it ever stop ?
Didn't do much after we got home, surfed the web, researched some more about the ragdoll breed, ....
Probably going to call it a night very shortly.

Gotta pet Ollie now. I think he can sense that I am thinking about getting another cat. My little neurotic sweetie, nobody could ever replace him. =)

Ragdoll Cat

I want a Ragdoll cat. =)

What's a Ragdoll you ask ? It's a breed of cat and my latest craze. :)
Some of the characteristics of ragdolls are that they are very friendly, sweet, loving, docile, gentle and serene. They are "people-oriented" cats who love to be with humans and attach strongly to their owners. Read a full character profile here.

So what's the catch ?
Well pure-bred cats tend to be expensive and a ragdoll starts at about 500 dollars. So I will have some saving up to do. :)

We also don't have time for a kitten right now with all the overtime at work. So we will definitely have to wait till things calm down at work.

To see another ragdoll site click here. I have also been looking at a local breeder's website.

On a different note I finally uploaded all our pictures from our trip to Nashville. If you want to check them out click here.

" The days grow warm and mellow,
Birds fill the air with cheer,
Everything seems magical,
The skies are azure clear."

~ Virginia Borman Grimmer ~

I got inspired by my friend Sharon's weblog and decided to create a "Happy Spring" entry as well.

It's finally spring. =) The weather was alright today, sunny in the morning and rainy in the afternoon. I can't complain, at least it didn't snow. Let's hope that we are done with the snow for this season.

FRIDAY FIVE:

If you...

1. ...owned a restaurant, what kind of food would you serve?
Maybe Italian or Mexican. I would also like to open a restaurant that serves really yummy but also healthy food at the same time.

2. ...owned a small store, what kind of merchandise would you sell?
I think my answer to that would have to be a "cat and tea store". :) It would be a small store selling all sorts country type knick knacks, served and sold tea and of course had cats as well. Wouldn't that be cozy ? =)

3. ...wrote a book, what genre would it be?
Not sure ... probably romance since I think I am best at that. The story would be set in England or Ireland.

4. ...ran a school, what would you teach?
Creative writing. I always loved those type of classes.

5. ...recorded an album, what kind of music would be on it?
Something soothing, Norah Jones type of music. I just wish I could sing, let alone hold a tune. :)

Here's a picture from our trip to Nashville, TN. It was taken at the Jack Daniel's Distillery in Lynchburg, TN, a very rural town which we looked at after we toured the distillery. It was a fun day and even though I didn't understand much of what the tour guide was saying (a local farmer born and raised in Lynchburg, TN - can you imagine how thick his accent was ? *g*) it was still neat to see the plant and look at how they make the famous whiskey.

Here is another picture that was taken on the tour. It's their custom to take a photo of every tour group and post it on their website. A neat idea.

I haven't finished uploading, resizing and labeling all of our pictures so please bear with me for another day or so.
I can't believe it's already 10:30 pm again tonight. Working late yet again probably didn't help and after work we went grocery shopping and had to do some chores around the house.
Oh well. :)
