Oscar Sunday, Weather Temp Swings and more
Happy Oscar Sunday :) Going to be watching the Oscars in a little while. Right now we are at Red Rooster pub. Went for lunch and some drinks. Had a yummy omelette and delicious peach bellinis. Yum! :)
Yesterday the weather was warm so we went for a walk in Cheshire followed by lunch in Oxford. The weather warmed up quite a bit Thursday and Friday (close to 70F/20C) So crazy. Definitely not normal for February. Today it is much cooler again and much more normal for the time of year. But it was amazing to have warm spring like weather for a few days. So nice!
Mike was in L.A Monday to Thursday. It was nice to spend some time by myself, writing letters, reading and watching movies. But it's nice to have him back. Especially sleeping by myself and waking up alone didn't feel quite right. So it's nice to have him back.
But I am glad he got to meet up with our Australian friend Nicki. Wish I could have gone out to CA too but everything worked out for the best so it's good. And I am glad he had a fun few days away before diving back into the job search.
Let's see way next week brings for me at work. We just booked a 2-night getaway to Burlington, VT over Easter weekend. Can't wait!!
Letter/Mail Update: Mailed letters on Thursday to: Eloine/NY, Bianca/Germany and Tiffany/OK.

Valentine's, Birthday Weekend for Mike, Broadway and more
Another busy week has come to an end. Already Sunday afternoon again, how does that happen?
Had a good but definitely busy week. Tuesday was Valentine's Day. I had to work till 6 but after I got out we made our way over to Red Rooster in Newtown. First time I had been there but I really liked the place. It was busy but we lucked out and managed to get a seat at the bar. Yummy thin crust pizza.
Yesterday was Mike's birthday and we headed down to NYC to see "The Book of Mormon" on Broadway. Been wanting to see it for ages, it's been on Broadway since 2011 I think. It was definitely worth the wait and really funny. Had lunch at "The Perfect Pint" prior to the show and afterwards we went to dinner at Ibiza back in CT - yummy tapas.
Today we slept in and then stopped at my office for a min. Wanted to hang up a couple of things I got for my cubicle. Afterwards we headed to 121 in Oxford for lunch. Relaxing and drinking some delicious rose from Provence now.
Let's see what next week brings at work. Mike is actually off to CA for 3 nights starting tomorrow. Our Australian friend Nicki will be in L.A. so he will meet up with her. I would have loved to have been able to go but with my new job and saving up vacation time it is really not a good time. Oh well. At least the weather has turned almost spring like here in CT at the moment too. Can't complain too much. :)
Letter/Mail Update: Received a letter/owe a reply to: Eloine/NY, Bianca/Germany and Tiffany/OK.

Snow, Grammy's, work etc
Made it through the first full week at work after the training. It's a bit weird having an actual caseload and files of my own. I know I am being eased into this but it's definitely still a bit overwhelming at first and an adjustment period. I helps that I truly enjoy the field and the company overall. I am a perfectionist at heart though so not knowing everything and having all the answers can be a struggle for me. I had been at my old job for 14 years so I had encountered most questions and scenarios and nothing all that new or different could really be thrown at me. This is a different and new experience and I just need to be patient with myself, which isn't always my strong suit. Well, next week is a new week so we will see how it goes.
Thursday we had the first big snow storm of the season (we have had smaller storms but nothing too significant), dumping about 14 inches of snow on us. I was lucky that I was able to work from home and didn't have to venture out. Definitely a plus.
Had some more snow over the weekend but hopefully everything should be ok for the morning so I can get into work without an issue. Ugh, I am so over winter. I really am.
Had a relaxing weekend and slept in both days which was really nice. Yesterday we went for lunch at 121 in Oxford and today we met up with friends at Square 1 for lunch. Then caught up on a few shows we had on TiVo and are now watching the Grammy's. Nice relaxing night.
Let's see what next week brings. I should be meeting a friend for lunch on Tuesday. Tuesday is also Valentine's Day. I have to close that day (work till 6) so not sure what we are doing yet for dinner. Friday, Feb. 10, was our wedding anniversary (16 years - so crazy!!) and we had a nice dinner at Rizzuto's. Next weekend on Saturday (Feb 18) we are going to see "The Book of Mormon" on Broadway for Mike's birthday. Should be a lot of fun.

Back in CT and regular day to day life
Arrived back at JFK on Wednesday night. The rest of the stay in Pittsburgh went fine. Sunday we had breakfast at a close by diner. Sharon and Susanna got their nails done and did some shopping while I spent some time at Starbucks drinking Earl Grey and reading.
Monday to Wednesday was new hire orientation which went by pretty quickly. We left the office around 2.30pm ob Wednesday to head to the airport.
Thursday and Friday went fine. It's a bit weird being back at the office again. I was assigned one own file as well but haven't had any real work on it yet. Guess that will be next week's project.
Friday night I took the train down to NYC and met up with my friend Jana. Went to see "The Great Comet of 1812". I had already seen it back in October when it was in previews but it was a lot of fun to go back and see it again with my friend.
Oh and in other good news I passed the test we had to take during our training with a 97, 1% higher than the previous highest score in our office. So that's pretty cool.
Well, we will see how next week goes, assuming I end up having actual files of my own to work on. I will update when I know more.
Letter/Mail Update: Letters went out last week to: Celia/MA and Carmen/Malta. Will be mailing a letter tomorrow to: Eloise/NY. Received a letter/owe a reply to: Bianca/Germany and Tiffany/OK.
