Broadway Saturday - Kinky Boots

IMG_20170624_171505_148Sunday afternoon, we meet again. Really, where does the time go? :) It's already super close to July now. Only one week left in June. So crazy.

Yesterday, Saturday, was a fun day. We took the train into NYC in the morning and had lunch at "The Perfect Pint" before seeing the 2pm show of "Kinky Boots". What a great show. We had been meaning to see it for a while but there are so many shows on Broadway it's hard to make the time and money to see them all. But when Brendon Urie (from Panic at the DIsco) was announced to star in it we finally decided to go see it. I am really glad that we did because it was a truly great show. Very inspiring & heartfelt as well as funny with great music and dance numbers. Would recommend it in a heartbeat.

After the show we stopped into a restaurant/bar on our way back to Grand Central. Had another snack and I had some yummy Frozen Rose. Delicious. Later we took the train back and met up with our friend John at a local place for another couple of drinks. Fun and busy day all around.

Today we slept in late which was nice. Then went for lunch to Oxford. At 121 now. Had lunch and now just hanging out and relaxing with some wine. Nice, relaxing Sunday afternoon.

We will see what next week brings at work. I am sure it's supposed to be super busy. But it will be followed by a 4 day weekend. Management decided to give us Monday, July 3rd off as well as the 4th so we will have a 4 day weekend for the holiday. Really excited about that!!  Well let's get through this coming work week and then I can enjoy my four days off. :)

Fondue Weekend :)

PixlrAnd it's Monday again. And as it seems to be with every Monday the issues seem to already be piling up on my plate and I haven't even gotten to the office yet. I guess that's Monday for you. Guess I'll tackle them one by one and hopefully it can all be resolved smoothly.

Nothing too eventful to report for last week I suppose. The weather on the weekend was pretty unstable, clouds, some rain, some weird fog, and super muggy. Saturday night I met up with my friend Jana and we had delicious fondue together. Both cheese and chocolate. Plus a bottle of rose. Very decadent and super rich but definitely a fun treat. :) Afterwards we went to see "Wonderwoman". We both had seen it previously but it was still fun to see again.

Sunday Mike and I went to see "The Book of Henry" which was also a good movie. Had lunch afterwards and later on caught up on some TiVo shows. Was a nice and relaxed Sunday. Let's see what this week brings.

My parents are now back from Croatia. Mike and I don't have any real trips planned for the summer together. We have a few overnight weekend stays and shows to liven things up at least though. Next weekend we have tickets to see "Kinky Boots" on Broadway. And in July we have our friend Megan and Jonathan's wedding in Mystic, CT and also a weekend in NYC. In August we have tickets to see "The Great Comet" again on Broadway, this time with Okieriete "Oak" Onaodowan (who used to star in Hamilton) as well as Ingrid Michaelson so that should be fun. :)

Well that's all the news here from my end for now I suppose. It's super muggy but there are supposed to be storms coming through later. We will see if that helps break the humidity. I really hope so.

Heatwave, Tony's and Father's Day

IMG_20170610_141729_531And like I say every week somehow another week has passed. I really don't know where the time goes sometimes. Already the middle of June. This IMG_20170611_181833_092past weekend we entered the beginning of a heatwave. In the 90ies (32+ C) until Tuesday. Saturday it was in the upper 80ies (29C) but at least not humid. We decided to take advantage of that and found a spot near the water in Stamford (Crab Shell). The restaurant was pretty neat and the food was yummy. I had delicious Cajun Catfish and Mike had a crab melt of sorts with tomato, bacon and cheddar cheese. We also shared a lobster bisque that was pretty good. Nice day to sit outside in the shade.

Saturday night we also met up with our friends John and Jana and ended up sitting outside till late at Prime Pub. The temperature was truly perfect after dark and it was a really nice night to sit outside. Doesn't happen too often when it's not too hot, too muggy or too cold.

Sunday it was even hotter so we decided to skip the outdoors and went to the movies to see "Wonderwoman". I had heard a lot of good things about the movie and was truly happy we went to see it. I am not usually a big fan of super hero or even action movies but every once in a while one comes along that I like. :) After the movies we went for lunch at Red Rooster Pub and later we watched the Tony's on TV. I was excited that "The Great Comet" had 12 nominations but they didn't win nearly as much as I would have liked. But of course it's cool just to be nominated and it was cool to see the shows' performance on live TV.  Sunday was also Father's Day in Austria (here in the US it's next week) so happy Father's Day to my dad. :)

Today is already Monday again. At least the office is air conditioned so I won't have to worry about the heat during the day. Sleeping during this heat is never fun for me. We do have fans blowing and it makes it somewhat bearable but I am looking forward to the temperatures dropping again on Wednesday. I like summer but I don't need it to be quite that hot. I am really not a big fan of extreme temperatures in general. Not a big fan of the super cold and snow either. haha.

Work Praise and wait it's already June .. how did we get here?

IMG_20170603_140848_103Made it through the week and the week actually ended on a very positive note with some nice praise. The company conducts post-move surveys to see how we are doing,  as well as help assess the work of our partner companies (movers, temporary housing, etc). It's always nice to get good scores but it's even nicer to receive some special comments that get recognized company-wide.

"And another super comment for another Hanna. She was “very prompt” and she responded on weekends. Super job all around Hanna!

I had a lot of questions during our first few calls and Hanna had no problems answering all of them and making sure I had all the information I needed. Hanna was very prompt in response and also accommodating. I got replies on occasions I would not have expected (weekends). I wanted to relocate as soon as possible, and Hanna made sure that happened for me."

So there you have it. If you receive surveys from any companies you have dealt with, please do remember to take the time to fill them out. It can make someome's day. :) And potentially help them in their career. :)

Yesterday, Saturday, we went for a walk to get some outdoor time in which was nice. Then we had lunch at 121 in Oxford.

Today, Sunday, we went to the movies to see "Paris Can Wait" An indie movie starring Diane Lane and Alec Baldwin, set in France. It sounded like such a promising concept but the movie was underwhelming to say the least.  Oh well. Can't win them all. :)

Well tomorrow is already Monday again.  Let's see how this week goes.
