Oscar Sunday, Mindy and more

FB_IMG_1534703081788Remember how I said "happy spring" and all that last week. Just now I looked out the window and there was snow blowing sideways. Yeah it's not really going to stick but it's cold and tomorrow it's barely going to get above freezing. Brrr. It will warm up again after that but yeah. Definitely ready for some more consistent nicer weather but March is always that way and even April. You never quite know what you are doing to get, it's a mixed bag.

Another really busy week. And only a bit over a week to go before I leave for Europe. Definitely not quite ready or prepared for that. That's for sure.

We are also dealing with issues with our cat Mindy which has been consuming a lot of my thoughts. She is 12 year old so not super young but also not crazy old. About a week and a half ago she started acting kind of weird and off. Nothing too crazy but she was always sitting in one spot and wasn't moving much and just seemed off. Also eating less than normal and just not herself. We ended up bringing her to the vet on Tuesday and they couldn't really give a definite reason but ran blood-work and xrays. The xray showed that she is eating litter which was weird enough in itself. We finally got the blood results back Thursday night and let's just say it wasn't great. She is severely anemic which in cats apparently can have a few underlying reasons such as bone marrow cancer, kidney failure, liver disease, auto immune disease etc. So basically all the reasons are bad and not really fixable. The vet suggested trying a steroid shot to see if that would perk her up a bit, at least short term. So we brought her to the vet Friday morning. She then proceeded to sleep most of Friday but when she got up late Friday afternoon she did have a few bites to eat and some water and she has been eating a little and drinking water since then. She is still not perfect or back to her old self by all means but she is washing herself a little, eating a little, drinking a little, using her litter box, really all we can ask for. She doesn't look super uncomfortable and mostly relaxed so we'll just take it one day at a time to see how it goes.

So yeah that's been what's been occupying my mind mostly. Other than that went to the movies to today and saw "The Lost CIty" which was a fun movie. Silly for sure but entertaining. Also watched "Being the Ricardos" on Amazon Prime yesterday and tonight we will be watching the Oscars.

Welcome Spring!

SnoopyHappy first day of spring! :) I am happy we have winter officially behind us. Last Friday we had a super gorgeous day with sunny weather in the low 70ies (low 20ies C) Of course since it was a Friday I did have to work but I had the windows open and was able to go for a quick walk around lunch time so that was still nice.

The weather over the weekend wasn't nearly as nice but ok. Yesterday, Saturday it was rainy and cooler. Had a massage in the morning which was nice, lunch at Rizzuto's and a nice laid back evening on the couch watching some shows. Today, Sunday, we slept in and then went for a 15-20 min walk. The weather was pretty cloudy but decent enough to be out for a quick walk. Had lunch at Red Rooster and eventually will end up catching up with more DVR shows and Netflix and just vegging out.

And well tomorrow is already Monday again. Guess we'll see what this week brings. Work has been pretty nutty as of late again so fingers crossed. Only about three weeks now until my trip to Austria too. I have a feeling it will be here before I know it.

Not too much else new really. I think the weather for this coming week looks ok. Not super warm and nice but not terribly cold either. I am hoping that we have the real cold and snow type weather mostly behind us now. Fingers crossed and all that.

Lots of random stuff

FB_IMG_1531439450985Can't believe the last time I posted was on February 20th. Where has the time gone? I normally have been very good about posting once a week but somehow these past weeks things just never went as planned. Work's been very hectic since the promotion, just lots of new processes and things, making everything work together, eventually reducing my overall caseload but making it all work in the meantime, learning new things and whatnot. It's been interesting and challenging but also just very busy, which is normal with any new thing of course.

Let's see what else? We also had our "Circle of Excellence" dinner in early March (based on the post-move surveys) which was a lot of fun. This was my 5th year in a row (every year since I have been at the company) in the COE. And every year they have a nice dinner celebrating everyone who made it into the circle of excellence (scores of 90% or more) Last year we had to do it via Zoom but either way it's always a fun time. Of course more fun in person so I am glad we were able to do it again in person this year.

Yesterday we watched "The Adam Project" on Netflix and today we went to the movies to see "Uncharted". Both fun movies.

Oh and yesterday I also booked my tickets to go back to Austria. Going April 6 to April 27. I'll be there for three weeks and will work for about a week and a half while there. That's another nice perk with my job being able to work remotely. Of course I do have to work East Coast hours which means working 2pm to 10pm while in Austria but that's ok. Still get to spend time with my mom and will try and make plans to hang out with some friends so should be good.

The weather has been all over the place here in CT lately. We have had some super nice almost spring like days followed by freezing weather and snow. It's a lot of up and down. Hopefully I'll get some decent weather when in Austria in April but there's no knowing, wait and see I guess.

Oh and we switched over to Daylight Savings time today as well. The US always does it earlier than Europe so we'll be out of sync with Europe for a few weeks time. I really wish we could stop with the whole time change thing and just pick a time and stick with it. Maybe one day.
