A brewpub in a historic church - hallejuah

Yeah it's been another week since I last posted and this will only be a real quick post too as it's already late and I should be getting to bed ... but I thought I would do a quick post from Pittsburgh. :)
We are having a really good time, enjoying the city and relaxing. Our flight coming here on Saturday was delayed by about an hour and a half but we finally made it and went to see the Natural History and Art museum which was fun. Then had dinner at the Original Fish Market in downtown Pittsburgh -- very yummy.
Today we were able to sleep in late (yay) and then headed to the ballpark to enjoy a baseball game. The weather was perfect for a nice day at the ballpark. For dinner we went to the Church Brew Works, a local brewpub. The funny part was that the brewpub was located in what used to be a church. Stain glass windows, pews as booths and all. Very surreal. The food and beer was very yummy though.
Tomorrow we will probably go to the zoo and maybe explore the Shadyside and Squirrel Hill neighborhoods before heading back to the airport to fly back home.
I know the rest of the week is going to be just crazy so I am trying to relax as much as I can. Tuesday I most likely will have to go out to our newly aquired Rock Hill, NY office. Let the craziness begin. :)

Yes, I'm still alive

Ok I realize I haven't been around in ages. It's just been too damn busy. I am way behind on my mail, my emails and everything else in my life pretty much. What can I say ? I'll catch up with everything eventually I suppose.

Our weekend in Washington DC was really fun. It was great to meet up with Kirsty & Laraine (UK) and Lexi (DC) again and also to meet Nicki (Australia). We had a great weekend touring the White House, shopping in Georgetown and doing a narrated trolley tour in the evening to see all the monuments lit up at night. After a lovely Easter Sunday brunch we headed back to CT with Nicki.

Spent Monday in Newport, Rhode Island and Tuesday I headed down to NYC with Nicki to do some sightseeing and souvenir shopping. We had a good day. The weather was cool but the views from the Empire State Building were very nice, very clear. I did take a bunch of pictures that weekend and I do promise that I will post them eventually.

I had two new employees start about a week and a half ago (the day after I returned back to work after DC) so everything's been very hectic since then. Training can be very time-consuming especially with two people at the same time and on two different jobs. They are starting to settle in ok but there is still lots of change brewing in the background which will all be good in the long run but short-term I am going to have to brace myself for quite a lot of added headaches until everything works itself out.

I know that a few very busy months are lying ahead of me. I think I will really be in need of a nice break over the summer. Anybody willing to sponsor a nice vacation getaway for me ? You know all-inclusive ? Flight, accommodation, food, the whole deal ? All offers welcome. ;)

Week Re-Cap

Here is my weekly update ... seems like I am only doing updates once a week lately. I'll try and do better but life just seems to be getting busier and busier instead of calmer. Oh well - such is life. My week has been spent interviewing lots of people to try and find the right candidate to replace one of my employee's who gave his 2 week notice. I hired someone so let's keep our fingers crossed that he works out. He isn't actually starting till the 11th but either way - fingers crossed.

There is lots of change brewing at work which looking at it in the big picture is all good. Short-term it's going to mean a lot of extra work until everything gets settled and worked out. Let's just say - I am predicting that I'll be a busy bee for the next few months.

My day off on Thursday and today have been spent spring cleaning. We were trying to make the house nice and presentable for when my pal Nicki from Australia comes to stay with us. We are going down to Washington DC on Friday to meet up with Lexi & Steve, Kirsty & Laraine (UK) and Nicki (OZ). Nicki will come back to CT with us on Sunday and stay with us until Tuesday. She's going to NYC on Tuesday, staying there for one night and then back to DC.
