It's been a while

Wintermailbox Yeah I know it's been a while since I last posted. I guess first it was really busy at work as usual. I have been pretty much working every Saturday except for the ones when I was on vacation.

Then in the beginning of the week I got hit by a stomach bug which really slowed me down. I battled some fever, nausea, dizziness, you know all the good stuff. My day off Wednesday was spent in bed. I am all better now, just still trying to get my appetite back to normal but I am sure that will happen sooner than later.

And now it's only one full week at work before we leave for England ... I can't believe it. I have sooo much stuff left to do at work that I need to get done. I guess next week will be a BUSY week again. :) But all in all things are ok. Just busy but ok. Looking forward to England and another break. It will be great to see my best friend Joanne again and also to attend my friend Nicola's wedding. Also will be able to meet up with my pal Kirsty again. Yay. :)

For now I am off to another day at work. I am bringing a bunch of "Greatest Hits of the 80'ies" CDs along, hoping that I can keep the good mood going. We shall see. :)

Travels to the very back of the closet

Countryhatboxes Today was my day off and I decided to get up around 10:30. Actually was woken up at about 10 when the DHL delivery guy rang the doorbell. My friend Nicole from Austria sent me super yummy gingerbread from Nuernberg. YUM. :)

Managed to write two letters, had lunch, cuddled with my cat Ollie, .. Then around 2 Mike picked me up and dropped me off at the mall. I was on a mission to find some shoes to wear at the wedding of my friend Nicola in England. So I walked all around the mall for about 2 hours ... no shoes. I was getting really frustrated. I have to add that I am one of those rare girls that hates shoe shopping. I am picky and just couldn't find anything I liked. So I finally gave up and started shopping for random things on sale instead. :) Ended up with a pair of PJs (I love buying PJs - somewhat of an obsession I guess), a cute handbag I can wear at the wedding and some other small stuff.

At 5 I met my friend Sharon at the mall and we headed to Olive Garden. Had some yummy pasta. When I got home I started to look through my closet to see what shoes I had. As I rummaged through a bunch of stuff I uncovered a variety of shoes that I haven't seen in years. I found at least 3 pairs that I can choose from for the wedding so I should be all set. I guess I'll probably go with the most simple ones, just regular black dress shoes. I also have a dark blue pair of sandals (don't think it will go with my red dress) and another black pair of sandals that I am not sure will go either. I'll have to take pictures so you guys can see and tell me what you think. :)

CUPATEA

Cupatea Just wanted to write a real quick note so you all know I haven't vanished. :)

We made it back safely from our trip. Last week was just pretty hectic (as usual) so we didn't really get around to doing anything after work. Yesterday we finally unpacked, did laundry, took the tree and all the other xmas decorations down, ... Now it's Monday morning and back to work. Doesn't really feel like we had a day off but I guess that's life. :)

On the more positive note we booked our flights to England on Saturday. We will be in England in only 3 weeks ... I can't believe it myself. We are leaving Feb. 7th and returning Feb 15th so we will be in England for our wedding anniversary on the 10th (five years) and Valentine's Day. Attending a friend's wedding on the 11th.

PS: Hope you like the picture I posted (click on it to make it bigger and see it more clearly). Mike saw that license plate and took a picture with his camera phone for me cause he knew I'd love it. :)

Pitstop in Washington, DC

Capitol So this is our last stop on our trip. We left Texas on Friday and stopped in Nashville, Tennessee for the night. Then headed on to Washington, DC yesterday. Walked around a bit last night. The capitol and White House look really cool lit up at night I've to say. Today we are walking around some more and will also meet up with my pal Lexi and her boyfriend Steve later on. For dinner we are planning to go to the California Pizza Kitchen - yay pizza. :)

Tomorrow morning it's back to Connecticut and back to work. I guess every vacation has to end at some point. :(

Hello from Galveston

Galveston I am sitting at a Starbucks on the outdoor patio enjoying the free wirless internet. It's so nice out. Yesterday it was sunny and almost 80F (25C), we walked along the beach ... can life get any better in January ? Especially knowing that we have had about a foot of snow at home in CT. :)

Having loads of fun so far. Went to tour some mansions yesterday, today we saw the Moody Gardens (really cool rainforest and aquarium pyramid) and an airplane museum. Tomorrow we are probably going to tour a vineyard closeby. And Friday we are off to go back up East, stopping in Nashville, Tennessee and then Washington, DC. I wish I could be on vacation all the time. :)

On the road again ...

Arkansas Just a short update from the road. We are in Little Rock, Arkansas right now. Tomorrow we will be in Texas already. It doesn't really seem like we have went anywhere even though I know we have done two days of driving already. Last night we were in Cincinnati, Ohio which was nice. We went to a yummy Italian restaurant called Bella's. I had the best Chicken Parmesan - ever. A very nice New Year's.

Little Rock is very dead tonight. We went downtown which actually looks pretty nice but NOTHING was open. The hotel is really dead too. The accent that people are having is funny too. Welcome to the South y'all :)
